we had ours chipped by a recommended shop in tuban. Not only did the unit only work for 5 minutes after pick up but the laser failed at the same time.
After arguments at the shop a laser was brought in from Jakarta (with a shared cost that shouldn't have happened) and that promptly failed also!! Another laser was fitted but the chip then failed.
On return to Australia we took it to a repairer who uninstalled the chip to find that it was an inferior quality chip.(Yes there are a lot of varying chips available.) I guess thats what you get for trying to do things on the cheap!!
We now have the worlds most expensive PS2 .....Never Again.
