Firstly for the forumite waiting to ponce on incorrect spelling get a life or become schoolteacher!For new bees to bali this info wasnt meant for scare tatics or hysterics (yeh dengue fever is in other parts of the world)but no matter where I was travelling if any info could help me stay safe and protected I would like to know why and how?For the know alls who are experts of this disease without being there or seeing the results of it do your research on the internet and dont be so sure of all outcomes are the same with every person.My friend putu is in hospital still every ill has deterioted quickly over the last few days, now the facts are before that he was a very healthy young guy eating well exercising etc. unfortuntely a mosquito has targeted him and now hes serious because we didnt recognise the symptoms earlier enough - flue like with high temperatures took him to local clinic who waited two days before a blood test only when we took him to hospital and demanded a blood test did they pick it up.As for advise that you get it if your unhealthy or recover easily if your healthy are you serious??My aussie friend who lives there was struck down with it last year nearly died and she has lost friends with this disease.Everyone shouldnt get hysterical it didnt make me take first plane home but be aware that it is around in bali its passed by mosquitos so cover up,wear repellant,and take notice of any symptoms that are out of the unusual.For those who dont want to know, dont read the postings this is not a MEDICAL ALERT just hopefully some helpful advise that will stop anyone from spoiling a great holiday in bali by falling ill.As for my friend putu I would not have come home only that my mum has been ill here. I hope he will make a full recovery hes been treated in the best hospital I was advised ,although he has now developed nose bleeds we are hoping the next couple days will show improvement!sorry for being so upset over this but I wouldnt want anyone to go through what Ive seen my friend putu go through!!!!!!!
