the rama beach hotel in tuban has a great pool and good rooms (go for the deluxe. they have them for 45.00us which works out to around 67.00aud per room. have a look at ramabeachhotel.com
good spot and nice places to eat nearby and only 5 minutes to kuta by cab and 20 minutes roughly to walk.
we never wrap our bags but if it makes your dad happy maybe you might like to.
an alternative is to put plastic ties through zipper end holes but in my opinion,even if you notice they have been tampered with you have to convince the customs guys that they were intact originally anyway.
