I definitely support going to Bali as a solo traveller, and even to Ubud. And while Tegal Sari is a wonderful hotel it's just way too quiet for a solo traveller. I speak from experience.

I stayed there 2 nights in August 2005 and was bored out of my wits. There's no tv in the rooms, and the hotel is a fair distance from the main action. I found I wasn't keen on wandering around that area on my own after dark so I stayed close-ish to the hotel for the evening meal then was stuck with my own company and a book to keep me occupied till bedtime.

Great hotel, beautiful setting and definitely recommend it for couples or families or even friends traveling together, but certainly not for singles traveling alone.
