You'll get charged $9.95 to get the card and $3.95 for every overseas ATM withdrawal. You can do better searching around for a visa debit card. I have one with my local credit union that charges me nothing for overseas ATM withdrawals.

A friend of mine who is coming with me in August is considering opening an account with my credit union just for a month or so. Open it, get the visa debit card, load it up with her spending money, then close the account when she gets back home.
