11 Years ago we became very good friends with a local working at the Bali Intan Hotel Legian. He left and joined the Polisi and we corresponded by mail during his training and for many years after. After completing his Polisi training he was sent for duty to Sumbawa Island where he spent several years. We hadn't corresponded for some time and I was worried we had lost touch. I was going Bali for a two week holiday thinking I would contact Rai's family in Denpasar to try and make contact with him again. I didn't get around to contacting his family but upon my return home there in the mail was a postcard from Rai, telling me that two weeks ago he was posted to Bali Tourist Polisi Office Jln Pantai Kuta, and if I was coming to Bali to get in contact on his mobile phone. I rang him immediately telling him I had, in fact, just returned from two weeks in Bali. I was very disappointed I had missed him, but have seen him on all our future trips, and sometimes several times a year. He has even named his daughter the same name as my daughter in honour of our long time friendship.
