the travel industry but I am as equally qualified as a consumer and to be honest with you I am sick and tired of wasting time emailing back and forth with some of these web based booking agents only to find that the prices quoted on their sites "do not included taxes" or are cut to the bone "deals" with no transfers, breakfasts, etc...included.
If you read my post CAREFULLY Ron you will note that I used words like "be careful" and "be cautious" I did not "accuse" anyone of anything. To the contrary, I also said: "I'm not saying all web based accomodation wholesalers are doing this on purpose, maybe they haven't renewed their contract with the hotel or updated their pricing for a while.....just be careful".
Footnote to my original post, I received an email last night from one of the web wholesalers who advised: "these rooms are no longer available at this price, please advise duration of stay, number of guests and rooms required and we will provide an estimate using our current pricing".
I just checked their website this afternoon and wouldn't you know it, the "sucker" price is still being advertised on their site. Now Ron I don't know about you, but where I come from that is called "false advertising" or at the very least a marketing "teaser" designed to get ^feet in doors^ and not neccesarily ^bums in beds^ mate. "Clear, I hope so".
Where possible I would much prefer to deal with someone here locally at least I know that the pricing I am offered is genuine and has been recently checked. As most of these wholesalers are offshore based I also get peace of mind knowing that some of my money is staying here at home and supporting "your" travel industry, (opps....I guess I should have asked earlier which part of the travel industry you are in....not web based wholesales I trust Ron ?) LOL
