We always book the interconnecting rooms, but you may be happy with the apartment you've already booked.
You can negotiate directly with the hotel then.
The pools are not far from the apartments, but if you have to wait for lifts, if you are on one of the upper floors, it may take extra time.
Here's a photo of the hotel reception & driveway. It takes me no more than a minute to walk out to the street from the reception.
