We too had troubles through other insurance companies. One company would cover because he used a preventer. I tried to tell them that cos a preventer is used no asthma attack. No preventer = asthmas attack but could have got cover cos not using cortisone treatment.
CGU says if no attack requiring treatment by med practinoner in last 12 months not required to be listed as pre existing.
You must be careful my mum took out the cheapest and didn't read the pre existing list. Had a bypass 9 years ago but policy said bypass over 3 years must be pre existing.
Consequently cost her $3000AU to stay a night in the BIMC in Nov in coronary care. They even talked of medivacing her home but didn't in the end. Came home and had 6 stents put in!!!
Moral don't take insurance too lightly you never know when you are gonna get sick. Note Mum is only 65,
