Friends flying out with me who are coming from brisvegas have a very short period between arrival into Sydney and the flight to Bali, but have been told the same as you because the flights were booked same time domestic / international, the flight will be held. If for some reason it cant be held they will be put on next avail flight.
We have been told our luggage will be checked straight through from our domestic departures so we dont have to worry about collecting and checking in again.
