you need to make sure that the hotel you are staying at has internet available to guests. Most don't. If they do they will provide you with their username and password. The rate I have been charged for a couple of hotels is 300 per minute. That is for dial up.
As others have stated hotspots are available in certain areas and some cafes. I always use Bali Cyber Cafe when I don't want to carry the laptop. Great food and they are very helpful.
Usually load my work onto a flash drive then plug and print or send at the cafe.
