I am amazed how many don't have travel insurance. I worked with a woman who didn't have house insurance. It wasn't like they were struggling - he was a miner and she worked full-time on good money.
I asked her what she would do if her house burnt down and her reply was "our friends would help us" to which I replied "I don't envisage they would refurnish and rebuild your house" but she wasn't fazed and continued drinking.
