for the best of reasons we all sometimes do things away from home that we wouldn't do in our own setting. it's a good idea never to give anything to kids unless there is an adult with them. we wouldn't walk the streets of our home city giving out lollies, etc. and we would discourage our own kids and grandkids from accepting such gestures. So we are really putting the balinese kids in a very difficult situation. Teachers, hotel or restaurant staff and beach workers will very quickly and happily distribute small gifts among the local children and you will still be able to share the joy of giving.
