We always book a couple of nights at Legian and then we travel. Some of the time we spend on Lembongan but for the rest we hire a car and off we go. Probably better to hire the car for the whole time you are away from Kuta. We are a family and need a slightly larger car and costs around 140,000rp per day for a couple of weeks, but a suzuki is much cheaper aroung 70,000rp. Haven't rode a bike but would if I had no kids. Once you get out of Kuta the driving is easy, and if oyu get lost the locals will help you, we have even paid bike riders a few thousand rupiah to show us where we should be going.
