around kuta lombok is pretty good for surfing, spot on about the boats heatherbelle, have fun ! Just watch out for floating fish traps in the lineup as occasionally they break free of their moorings and become a hazard. O yeah, watch out for the bad boys at Maui { a beach/ village near kuta}, maybe dont go there at all. (extortion of funds and intimidation was rife when I went there)
