- you would have to start very early and expect to get back home very late. At least it would give you some idea of what you wanted to see more of next time. I don't think an single overnight stay would be much better as you tend to spend a lot of time unpacking and packing again for the return trip. Its easy to spend a day wandering around Lovina, another doing the same around Singaraja (the old Dutch capital) with a dip in the hot springs maybe and another day taking the northern coast road to Gilimanuk. Not much to do at Gilimanuk but some nice scenery and short stops along the road.
Go up north via Lake Bratan and turn sharp left just up the first hill past the lake. Stop at the coffee house about 1 Km past the twin lakes, see Munduk Falls (better than Gitgit) and then go down to the coast via Serrerit and along to Lovina. Return straight up the mountains through the forests to Lake Bratan again. Stop at the Bedugul markets and those at Baturiti which are quite different. Call in to Marga and the memorial park at Margarana for a dash of Balinese fighting history and to find out why their airport is so named.
