One trick when hiring a car. We booked a basic car as advertised. This will be a very small car, with not many extras, although air con seems to be standard. When we went to collect it they tried to get us to upgrade. We said no, then were given a bigger car at no extra cost. Seems they did not have the small car, so tried to get us to pay for the bigger car, rather than give us the car at no cost! Had it booked for 10 days, so great for us. Make sure you drive the SF /LA road by the coast as it is spectacular. (a bit like the graet ocean road in Victoria)
