This was the location of the 1st anniversary service after the first bombing.
We had visited the site a year earlier. Under construction was a huge statue of a God made out of copper. In another section a huge
head of a bird also made of copper.
According to our guide a hotel was to built and the copper statues were to be erected on top of the completed hotel. The God, when finished would be sitting on the back of the bird. The hotel with statues would be taller than the Eifel Tower.
Has anyone visited the site recently, has any progress been made on the proposed hotel complex, the guide said it was due to be completed in 2007.
We are due to visit again in a few months and would love to see if this vision has come to fruition.
