My husband and I have stayed at a place called xxxxx xxxx xxxxxxx, which is approx a 3-hour drive north from Kuta. But less than 2 hours from Ubud, past Kintamani by an hour.
I can't recommend this resort highly enough.
We have been back 5 times in the past couple of years and it is sensational.
There are only 3 villas right on the beach and it is absolutely lovely - definitely deluxe, no problems with hot showers, spotless towels and sheets, sensational staff etc etc.
I suggest that you check their website, as it has a lot of information on the resort and then just ask me any questions.
No hawkers, no shopping, just a place to rest and relax, or go on day-trips, which can be arranged for you. It can be as relaxing or full of activity as you like. You can snorkel off the beach, take a bike ride and play tennis at the local village.
