Hi, there are many cheap flights from Jakarta, you have the national carrier Garuda, which have the most frequent flights to Bali, but not the cheapest... then you have several budget airlines, such as Batavia Air, Adam Air, Air Asia, Merpati etc etc.. the cheapest ticket on one of these airlines from Jakarta to Bali is about 350 thousand rupiah one way. On Garuda the cheapest would be about 800 thousand rupiah one way.
However, if you want to budget and have time to go overland from Jakarta thats a good idea as well, with lots of things to see along the way. There are also bus tours than run overland from Jakarta (not sure on prices) that stop at the main highlights, such as borobudur temple/jogjakarta etc which might take about 8 days overland... it depends how much time you want to spend to travel around before actually arriving in Bali itself :)
