Thank you for your feedback. I can appreciate how you feel about Mondial after the experience you went through, especially it happening just before you went home. Some years ago when we used HBF for our travel insurance, we found out, the hard way, that medical costs including x-rays were to be paid by us until HBF accepted the claim. They required us to authorise our GP to release my husband's medical records, I guess to check that it wasn't a pre-existing condition which we had hidden from them. In the end he had basic medical treatment for which we paid, and follow-on treatment when we got home.

While we were at the private clinic, a young Aussie surfer arrived with a horrific head wound sustained when he landed on a reef. He too had travel insurance but was worried that he would not have enough in his bank account to cover the substantial cost to stitch up and treat his wound. Fortunately for him he was able to get his parents to transfer money to his account as it was an emergency and it would have taken a while for his claim to be accepted. Perhaps others have had better experiences, but this really worried me. Now we make sure we have a credit card that will cover any emergency costs - just in case.
