when you can't get an answer from customs or quarantine. Many years ago a friend and I were given a snakeskin wallet each when we had a few leather jackets made. We were concerned that we woudlnt be able to bring them back to Australia but the shop owner reassured us that as they were water python it would be ok. We decided to declare them anyway, and I showed mine to the official checking my bags. She had a quick look, barely glanced at it, then said it was ok. I questioned her and double checked as it was snake skin. Nope.. no probs. My friend, a few rows down had hers confiscated. They were identical. So if you are going to have to pay a lot for your boots I'd be thinking twice about getting them made in leather instead. You may get away with sneaking them in but is it worth it?
