this trip only 2 weeks ago, in Denpasar not sure if it is the satin you are after but it was a Bali satin and its really lovely and doesn't crush like our satin. I also got a Bali lace in the same colour for her to add somewhere or use as an over lay. My daughter wanted Burgandy. Lucky for me she loves it. It is absolutely stunning(I have been showing everyone at my works today and 2 people are getting married next year they loved it)
There are many material shops in Denpasar and yes you will need to bargain, I bargained and once they cut it and folded it i bargained again for the complete total, worked out about $3 australian a mitre, can't beat the price. The name of the shop I got it from was K KIKI TEXTILE Jln Sulawesi 122 Telephone (0361) 224347. Shop around there are so many shops, mind you this was only the 2nd shop i went and and feel in love with it straight away. I told my daughter I would get 2 different burgandy material for her to pick from and only settled on this.
I didn't get it made while in Bali as she wasn't with us this trip and I didn't want to take the risk, but she is a dancer and her studio dressmaker is going to make it from my daughters design, for her HSC Textiles and Design she is designing her own formal gown. The dressmaker hasn;t seen it yet, but today I showed the studio owners mum and she was in ore about it. It is so stunning, and the good thing about it is there will be no one else at the formal with anything like it. Althought I am not allowed to show anyone who knows anyone who goes to her school.
If you want I could email you a picture of the material but it would not do it justice as it is just in a folded pile. The people who saw it at my works today all said how stunning/ lovely/ beautiful it is, lucky for me I work at another school to the one she goes to.
