of a community. There's lots of food, drink and gossip! Good fun! Traditionally they're held once a month, usually on a sunday, that way the Christians get to go to church first.Generally everyone contributes a sum of money that goes into a 'pool'. Our friends give 100,000rphs each. Half of that goes to the food costs and the other half goes into a raffle for one person to win.
The sausages idea didn't work, because Warsi's ( my indonesian sister)living arrangements have changed. Her friend who used to do all the cooking has left, and Warsi felt a bit intimidated to do the cooking for 30+ people. Since the downturn they'd stopped doing it, but after our inagural Maccas 'do' it's going again.
We ended up giving the extra sausages to one of friends who also attend the arisan, and who've had a fairly hard time. The husband broke his wrist a couple of years ago, they have two almost teenage boys, and a little girl. Recently Rudy was playing footy with the boys, slipped and broke his ankle. He was almost totally disabled for many months. Not good at all.

We allways take over steak, and sausages. They're a big hit...
