Well, Sunday arrived with a bit of sunshine for a change as the last 8 days was overcast and 5 days out of the 8 poured rain all day. Still managed to get a bit of shopping done though! After brekkie, Hubbie wanted to go to Milanos for a massage but not on his own?! "Why", I ask? "Cause they might think I want a......"Happy Ending". Well, when I finally could speak after laughing so hard, I said that I didn't think he would mind that!!! Anyway Hubbie ended up going on his own at when he got back said everything went fine with no hint of "you-know-what". We then got ready for our transfer, at noon, to Sanur.
Well, we stayed at Gazebo Cottages as I have heard many great reports about this place. I hope I don't offend anyone, but we were not impressed! We stayed in a mezzanine room, I felt it was very dark but that was probably because of the dark wood everywhere. Half the lights didn't work which took a couple of days to get fixed. The air con barely worked and the bathroom was downstairs and the bedroom upstairs, (which proved to be a problem in the next couple of days as you will find out!). Top that all off with a cat and her kittens that decided that our verandah at midnight was the place to play and a bit of roofing iron that kept madly flapping in the very strong breeze kept us awake most of the night. The gardens I felt were very tired looking, but on a positive note the restaurant was great and the food was great as well. Brekkie was off a menu which is something we hadn't had in Bali before and we felt it was not worth the $15US that we paid for.So next trip we decided to just look for brekkie when we got up instead of paying before we went.We also loved the walkway that runs along the beach.
So, we ended up at the Trophy pub for a drink and vowed to come back one night for a meal. On the way home, we stopped off at Hardys for a look, and I had an hour reflexology for $30,000RP, but as I wasn't feeling really well,(just a bit nauseous), so went back to the room and had a shower and a bit of a rest before heading to Bonsai Restaurant for dinner. We had Green Salad, Spring rolls, Grilled Snapper, Steak, a large water and a large Bintang, bill came to 180,000RP, Not bad food but we have had better.
Not a good night sleep for either of us, but the next day walked up the road to try and find an ATM. Tried a few and none worked, so exchanged the last $200 I had. Caught a taxi to Alus tailors in Tuban. I really can't rave enough about this tailor, I got 6 pairs of trousers made for work in microfibre for $300Au. I ordered them on Monday about noon and went back on Wednesday at 4pm to collect them, they were all finished and fit perfectly. The only trouble I had was the address off this forum had her address as Jl Raya Kuta but it is in fact on Jl Raya Tuban a few doors up from Supanova shopping centre, Took our driver about half an hour to find it and ended up having to ring for directions.
Walked down to Centro for a look and spotted Ryan off Big Brother!!!! My highlight of the whole trip!!!!
Went back to Gazebo but arranged for the driver who we got in Tuban to return on Wednesday to take us to the tailor. This guy is wonderful. He never told us a price for transport because we had told him that we had been to Bali quite a few times but we also made sure we didn't screw him in price either. He is a very careful driver with good english and is just starting out with a car owned by an uncle. Please give him a go, his details are:

We wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Went to Warung KumiSama for dinner only a very small place but all tables were full. We had Calamari, Spring rolls, Cap Cai, Chicken Corden Bleu, a coke and a large Bintang, it cost $132,000RP. Decided to go back for brekkie for the remaining time we were there.
Okay, now for the best part of the holiday.... NOT! I was awake all night, seems I came down with the flu but with vomiting all night. Even a sip of water came right back up.Managed to get about 1 hour sleep. Hubby went off for brekkie with me still puking my guts out. When he came back, he was concerned and said if I could walk down to the nearest chemist. I had a shower and started to walk. Finally got to the chemist and tried to explain what was wrong with me. Here I am, bawling my eyes out cause I thought I was going to throw up in their lovely clean chemist and the girls not knowing what to do with me!! They finally got the idea what was wrong and gave me tablets, which i took one straight away. I wanted to go to Hardys as the day before I discovered a great reflexology place that was 30,000RP for ONE HOUR!!! It seemed to help a bit the day before so I thought maybe it would help again. Well, I bawled all the way through it, I am sure I scared the hell out of the young guy doing my feet. Every time he touched me it hurt and he kept saying "Sorry, Sorry". But at the end I felt a lot better.
Anyway went back to the room and had a little sleep. The cleaning girl came while I was having a snooze and straight away asked about the air con and if I had turned it off. Well within 10 mins we had been upgraded to a suite and had about 3 men helping to move all our stuff because I had trouble moving myself! This room was great, big and airy, outside shower with a lovely little pond and the air con worked!!!!
If we had this room from the start I think we would have loved Sanur straight away. Anyway did a bit of shopping at the beach markets. We wanted to go to Tootsies but we were followed the whole way there by these two women asking where were we going. To cut a long story short, Ketut (from Tootsies), said that we had to buy something from these 2 women first because they had followed us all the way up to the markets, then we could buy something off her. I admired her for this as I guess most people from this forum would only want to go to Tootsies shop. And the other shops would not sell a thing.
The next few days we just sat quietly around the restaurant or pool as I was still not 100%. Ate at Lotus Pond, which was nice but a bit pricey compared to other places around.
Well, I'll end it here and do another instalment with my shopping and also my impression of a few other resorts we went to have a look at on the night we flew home as well as the trip home. Yes, dramas continue!!!!
Please don't hesitate to ask or email if you have any questions re anything I have written as I love to hear from you all!
To Be Continued.........
