most of the dive places seem to offer update courses in this. We too are looking to dive in Amed but my husbands cert is out of date and we have no idea where it is. He dives reasonably regularly for crays but only off a private boat.
He will probably just do the quick refresher over there, if available. I imagine that a dive instructor would be able to spot pretty quickly whether you are a novice or experienced and give you the suitable instruction.
I agree with LynneD that you definitely want to go with someone reputable, certainly dont wont second rate dive buddies or equipment!
I have been told that the Liberty is not far off shore, but I dont know if it is snorkelling territory - I will let you know after our visit in April if you like?
