That way, I know the mask will fit my face properly and keep the water out, I know the flippers will be comfortable and I know whose mouth the snorkel has been in.
It's so much better with flippers, even if you just want to cruise around on top. And if you want to get down a bit and control your movements in the water, flippers are essential.
