apart from doing the usual mozzie bite prevention stuff is there anything else we should know ?
I had no idea this so called " bone flu /fever " thing was actually dengue fever & I expect many other forumites were the same.Dengue fever has been discussed on BTF almost as long as it's been going so I think we all need to be aware & keep informed .From what I understand the condition seems to be more prevelant during the wet season.Back in March 2004 the Jakarata Post newspaper said dengue fever had reached epidemic & that the Jakarata hospital was receiving almost 800 new patients per day.I think Mozzie bite preventition is something that many of us take way too lightly when we are in the tropics ,maybe it's time we started being a bit more serious about protecting ourselves.
Not sure if it's an old wives tale or not but I've heard over the years than taking Vitamin B keeps the mozzies away cause they don't like the smell us humans excrete through the pores of our skin if we take Vitamin B.Maybe we all need to decide what our preferences are & IF we drink more Bintang,Berocca or get stuck into the vegemite <LOL> The way I look at it is IF you drink plenty of Bintangs you are keeping the mozzies away,then by taking the Berocca you are helping the after effects of the Bintangs as well as keeping mozzies away - not sure where the vegemite would come into it !
