Colleen,
In 2004 we were in Bali for 3 wks and stayed 1 wk Kuta (BGH), 4 nights Ubud (Villa Rasa Sayang), 2 nights Lovina (Rambutan), 3 nights amed (Coral View), 1 night CD (Fajar CD) then back to Kuta (BGH).
In that context, we found our time in Amed to be eyeopening as we drove from Lovina round the coast and saw parts of Bali we had never seen before. We went spent our time in Amed going snorkelling every day but we didn't do much else. Found it a bit too isolated at night and had dinner at the Coral View restaurant every night. We enjoyed our time but will probably not go back to Amed due to the isolation factor.
Coral view rooms were okay, great view, great pool, great restaurant.
In CD we stayed at a little place called Fajar CD, aka CD sunrise, a little 2 star place in a brilliant location. Room was okay, great view, friendly staff, right across the road from the Watergarden so we had our meals at TJs. Enjoyed walking around CD and all the sightseeing such as the water palaces etc.
Hope you decide to go for a look!
Regards,
Trish
