it is very hard to choose between.
Bangkok is unique and the shopping just great. Much more in variety than Bali.
Northern Thailiand exceptional.
hired a mini bus, guide and driver and travelled from Bangkok down south to Phuket over 5 days and saw heaps of Thailand that you normally would not see by flying to Phuket. It was wonderful. Again scenery just utterly beatiful, found the sea gypsy village utterly facinating.
Next to see is Koh Samui.
I found the Thai's an extremely graceful, and respectful race. Could not fault their friendliness and hospitality.
Bali is also wonderful, it is Australias playground. Its shopping is good, but I must say not as good as Thailand, but again this would depend on where you are in Thailand, even where you stay in Bangkok, it is good to stay around the clothing district.
Bali is cheaper to visit with airfares and accommodation so will always will votes with this as well.
Bali people seem to be more open with Aussies to discuss life in general and have fun and a laugh than the retiring shy Thais.
Thai food is to die for whereas Bali's caters more for the Western palate.
Both are unique and I hopefully will be going back to both this year.
Both have bloody awful toilets.
