Tourism In Bali

I have been to Bali over the last 9 years every second year, I am thinking about going again this year (2006) in December. I have been told that it is quiet and the stalls and restuarants are closed, I am just trying to find out if the trip I've planned to take is really worth doing, what is the toursit population like? Is it still as high as it always was? And do you think it's worth me going?

Any help and information would be greatly appriciated.
