looks like anything over 62 inches is a No NO and anything over 109ins is no way

Quantas International Weight System
"Only accepted if enclosed in a surfboard bag that must not exceed 32kg (66lb) weight nor its length exceed 158cm (62in). Boards/skis can be included in the free baggage allowance. When the combined weight of these items exceeds the allowance normal additional baggage rates apply."

Quantas International Piece system
Only accepted if enclosed in a surfboard bag and does not exceed 32kg (66lb) in weight nor its length exceed 277cm (109in). One bag will be carried between the points and at 50% of the additional baggage charges to/from USA, Canada and South America. Any additional bags will each be assessed at the additional baggage charge.

The additional baggage charged for 1000km + is A$120 per piece or at 50% $60 per item one way

I'd be ringing to clarify whats going on , years ago I carried a Mal on Quantas & it was Ok , Garuda included it in the baggage allowance Last year

Good Luck
