The first time we went to Bali was in 1997 and it was a bit of a culture shock the wife got ill at a restuarant in Nusa Dua and it spoilt our holiday,we had booked trips etc, and the one to Kintamani was a nightmare for the wife, lucky i have the journey on video as all she saw was the back of a seat with her face dug into it,and constant stops to dunnies etc. a bit of a nightmare, and the smells as you walk past the drains, which are basic to say the least was horrific,so we stuck after that to the hotel and i sipped on a bottle of Chivas to "keep away the bugs" ps. that trip my daughter and i nicknamed my wife "Volcano Butt" something she hasn't forgotten.
Five years later the wife says "i think we should go back to Bali" you are F*****g joking says i"(Flipping joking) so away we go again and this time we get the info from the BTF. are much wiser and have never looked back,we are going in August this year and it will be our 6th. trip,,so ok. you will still get a bit of a smell of the drains,"you should have smelt them in Southern Italy when we were there after a tropical thunderstorm YUK! so Bali has won us over we have travelled to FiJi,Hawaii twice (love the place but they all want tips and LOTS of $$$$)in the last 6 or seven years,BUT .....Bali is our favourite destination when you get to know the people ,the culture, the smells and the good and the bad, which you get everywhere, lets face it tourists are for people to make money out of no matter where you go on the planet,Europe, Thailand etc. it's just a matter of how it's done that makes you feel good or bad,i have had worse experiences in many other places on this planet than Bali.we love the place and the people ,and can't wait to get back there,so this report from a Canadian is a five percent one,95% love the place and 5% never will.
