I also have a friend who lost his wife, I asked a Balinese friend living in Melb. what I could do to help. She said as I was going over in the near future to put $50.00 dollars into a card and give it to him when I arrived, this was to help pay for the cremation.
I have another friend who lost his 10 year old daughter 3 years ago
to similar circumstances as your friends daughter. I didn't know untill he picked us up from the airport and I asked how his family was. He said; I am O.K., my wife is O.K. and my son is O.K. but my daughter, she die!
I was so shocked that when I left hime I gave him much more than $50
and he was so appreciative.
Friendship is the best form of support for a person who is grieving
and A card and flowers shows that you care as a friend without acctual words.
I hope this helps your pain a little.
