please help with information. Two nights ago I spoke with a very good Balinese friend and was devastated to hear that their youngest daughter [around 2 years old] had died over the weekend. Recently she had not been well but I had no idea that it was of a serious nature, in fact I dont think my friend knew there was any 'real' problem. Naturally my friend is very upset, I spoke with him again last night and have said I will call regularly to make sure he and his family are ok. He has said that he will be in his village for around 3 weeks as there is still much they have to do after the cremation.
Can anyone give me information regarding protocols etc which are followed at times like this by the Balinese.
I want to offer my support as a friend as I would back home, but I dont want to be an insensitive westerner and offend anyone, or intrude in their time of grief. I feel rather useless, if there is something I could do, maybe someone has some ideas or info that could steer me in the right direction.
From anyone who has first hand experience of this in Bali I would be very grateful for your guidance and information.
Thank you to anyone able to assist.
