By Sat. I should have said Satellite to be a little more specific. Speeds can vary with Satellite (as with adsl,cable and isdn) it depends on what connection the cafe or person has chosen. The only real difference with Satellite is that the latency (ping) time is a little higher as the signal is required to travel a far greater distance (to space and back), how would this affect you work ? It wouldn't, it affects people who need ping times sub 100ms (for online real-time (1st person) games usually).

You would more than likely find that the cafes would be using a 64k connection or possibly 128k as they are mainly used for email and web browsing which require only a small amount of bandwidth. Depending on your requirements that maybe acceptable, live video conferencing or streaming may struggle if the network load is high.

It would be easier to know what you need to do in order to answer the question properly :)
