Star34's account of how she lasted 48 hours in Bali. Sympathies.
Same thing happened to me and i suspect it is the same people. 2 Javanese women sitting on the steps of their shop along Poppies 2. To all out there, if anyone approaches you to do your nails and plait your hair especially along that lane, be very careful, better yet pretend you are deaf. If they grab you, SNARL at them.
These women literally GRABBED us off the streets. They tied "Friendship Bands" on our wrists and pretended to need to cut off the ends whilst declaring everything was free. I read on the forum not to get antagonistic in Bali so i didnt know better since firstly, it is a 3rd world country and i didnt want 5 men coming in and pummelling the lights out of me and my gf, secondly, it was our first time in bali and our first day out. so before we knew anything we got our nails and all that done.
If that happens, cry your way out of it, literally.
Every other report in reply to Star34's post accounted for the same thing happening along the same Poppies 2.
Some of the locals can be really rude. We had people telling us that the price at which we offered them for their wares are enuff only for condoms. women screaming at my friends for not having eyes when they disregarded the 10 million offers for "MA-sage, Manikew". Guys leching at my gf(They got told off proper for it). Quite amazingly, some of them were aussie. A whole van load of young aussie boys were HOOTING at my gf when they passed us at breakfast and she was dressed in a normal tank and shorts, nothing indecent.
But there were the decent ones as well, like Made who runs a shop right outside Dewi Sri Cottages.
