Seriously, the places he is visiting are not 'non touristy' places. They are more like 'in betweener' places. An inbetweener is a recent term dreamt up by ol' boreldy that describes a tourist that wishes they were an expat and then tries to act like one too. Sad really. Many traders in these areas have some command of English so it's not too difficult to communicate with them. However if you have some Bahasa skills (ol' boreldy has none) the locals generally will appreciate your effort in speaking their language and engage in conversation with you enthusiastically. Anyway, I think you already knew this Anggun. ☺️
