Kuta is certainly the more quiet of the tourist spots, although there There's certainly life along Jl. Benesari, Jl. Bene and the less known streets, but Kuta is judged on Poppies 1 and 2 which only tells part of the story.
The beach road (Jl. Pantai Kuta) is actually very lively and of course Kuta still boasts the best shopping of all the other centres.
I am not sure what young couples look for these days but I can tell you that the nightclubs around the monument are still rocking at 4am.
From what I can see passing by mostly young domestics and locals.
If you need to be around young couples I would think that areas north of Seminak may be the go.
