Registering your phone's IMEI to be able to use local sim cards
The 5 day timeframe for registering IMEI does not apply unless quarantine is required.
To obtain the $500 tax free portion registration of IMEI must be done on arrival at the airport .
If you do undergo quarantine -
Passengers who have completed quarantine can register IMEI by obtaining an exemption of USD 500, provided that they attach a certificate from the competent authority with a maximum IMEI registration period of 5 days from finished quarantine.
Location of registration can be done in all Customs Offices
For those only wishing to use global roaming or WIFI registration is not applicable
For shorter stays tourist sims (30 days - 90 days) are available at official provider outlets eg Telkomsel
