Just thought about the difference of your travel card to my savings account. All bank travel cards are debit/ credit cards, accepted wherever MasterCard or Visa is accepted.
So they have a credit card number as opposed to my eftpos/ key card which doesn't.
Even if, and I don't believe there was, a skimmer on the machine I used, they cannot access my savings account wIthout my online banking password.

Whereas with a credit/debit card, they only need the card number and they can make online purchases. I used to have a salary packaging debit card, which was a MasterCard. I would have to press "credit" when making purchases, even though it was a debit card. That card could have been compromised if I had used it in a dodgy ATM, whereas my eftpos/ key card should be safe.
