It IS going to happen.
Although still extremely demanding, Australia has eased visa conditions for Indonesians visiting Australia.
There are still significant issues between the countries regarding immigrants and territory incursions, however there is an inevitability about free visa arrival for Australians, either now or in the not too distant future.
Indonesia have made their point by excluding Australia up to now while accepting NZ, UK and others seemingly less deserving.
Its time for them to free themselves from the internal costs of administering these arrival charges.
Remember that these VOA procedures have to be applied at all main entry points across the archipelago and in many of these the exercise is a cost and not a profit.
Indonesia will no doubt follow up any such free visa situation with a concentrated "Incredible Indonesia" campaign in order to recoup any losses incurred in granting free VOA.
