wait until you get in a aussie cab for a short fare 10 to 20 dollars they will offer up a price instead of using the meter don't do it demand the meter this is highly illegal in aus ive contacted the taxi board in perth and was offered this advice yes it is illegal demand the meter if they wont use it get the identity of driver and cab number get out and call the taxi board with the info they are ripping off the tax dept the taxi board and screwing over the other drivers also there is third party insurance complications if the meter is not in use and they have an accident with you on board most of these drivers are of the imported variety they know all the scams don't they
