....often enough, sooner or later you'll have delays. If it's a legit reason like safety (aircraft mechanical,systems etc) I'm more than happy to be delayed. What bugs me is I hear "mechanical" or "flight path arrival congestion" and similar excuses being used for something completely different. I'm sure I've waited 45 minutes on a plane because the catering company forgot the vegetarian meal someone ordered. And why should I and 250 other people wait because a connecting flight carrying one passenger for my flight is forty minutes late.
All in all, for the amount of flights/traffic/connections etc and the time these aircraft spend in the air, I don't think airline companies do too bad. But don't ask me what i think after an hour on the tarmac because someone forgot to pack the carrots..
