We just did AA ex Sydney/Bali and duty free is ok as extra carry on ...our carry on was not weighed and did not see anyone else have their carry on weighed ....although some carry on looked more than 7kg.
Our carry on bag was 7kg, plus laptop bag, plus 1 bottle Duty Free.
Be safe and simply make sure your carry on is 7kg....buy a small portable luggage scale for peace of mind.
