We stayed in a pool side room at the beginning of December and we had no problem with noise. Quite nice being able to access the pool directly from your room and your own sun lounges. There are no curtains on the sliding doors which are bamboo so if you're wanting an afternoon kip your visible unless you close them. We also thought the lighting was pretty bad but perhaps only if you're a reader in the evenings. We also felt that we had to live out of our suitcase as our room had no drawers and a very tiny wardrobe. Breakfast was good. Confirm Triffid's direction to the beach.
