Hi all, long time lurker but thought I'd join to ask if anyone had any suggestions about best places to see in Bali, apart from Legian/Seminyak/Kuta. I've done that strip about 5 times so far but want to branch out. I jumped on the Air Asia flights (MEL-DPS return for $281, flatbed, 40kg luggage) in Jan next year, so I've got time to do some research, but was wondering if anyone could help me in terms of direction.
I guess up to know I've been in bigger hotel/resort style accommodation, but I've seen good reviews (can't really miss them!) about Masa Inn and similar smaller places. I'm happy to stay in anything from these to bungalows, so any tips for the following person (me!) taking these things into mind:
- solo traveller (or small group if friends get into gear & book)
- travelling mid-late Jan
- heard Sanur is good? Are the islands ok? Ubud? Uluwatu?
- prefer cheap as possible but prepared to pay more if it's worth it.
Really any suggestions would be great :)
