Packing my bags in a minute, heading for Bali tomorrow morning 9.55 ex. Melbourne. God help whoever sits next to me as there are two certain facts in evidence at this point, I KNOW I like a chinwag, and I KNOW they are heading for Bali. Instant conversation starter.
Heading for the Oasis Hotel in Kuta, supposedly 3 star and the pictures on the net make it look good, but suffice it to say, they are supposed to.
I was looking for my leftover Rupiahs from the last dental trip in 2012, I found 290,000, plus I found 20 Euros from HER trip in 2014 and I found 34 U.S. Greenbacks from God only knows where. As I understand it , VOA is 35 Greenbacks so I went to the shops last night and bought 5 more for Aus. $7.10. I reckon I'll breeze through the queue as I only have carry-on. (I know, great plans-----).
Arrives at about 1.00pm Bali time, with plenty of time to get set up in the room and then head off to Matahari's for the essentials, like a decent bar of soap, shampoo, razor, sunscreen, flyspray, toothpaste and a torch for Nyepi night. Also some foodstuffs to shove in the fridge in case they forget that us Aussies like to eat and drink on a regular basis.
Heaviest item(s) I am taking is a couple of crime thrillers to help with the flight, in case I get a fellow traveller who is hearing challenged and also to help pass the long lonely nights in my room if I can't find any human beings who want to put up with me.
(I tend to head off on long walks at any time of the day or night as I become easily restless when I am on my own).
An interesting question to pose to you guys, "How do you keep yourself engaged when you travel on your own?". If Wayne the sex tourist from my last trip in 2012 is reading this, he needn't reply. Anyhow, I'm off to pack my stuff and get ready for the trip to Tulla in the morning, at which point I will feel like I am off to Bali for an adventure and hopefully meet my next Monty (from 2007) or my next Stan (from 2012) as well as Toni and Tony and all the other people who help to make our travels so bloody memorable. Will HNR and will definitely JBR. Talk soon, Billthefencer
