Years ago you did have to fend for yourself as the staff returned to their villages. Staff do still return to their village but mist times now it is on a roster basis. Some hotels will operate as normal but the evening meal will be earlier, that is before dark. Others may have a light lunch and a set evening meal, prices will vary. I would also take a torch as there will be very little lighting around the hotel. Also be aware that, depending where you are, that some shops will be closed for up to 3 days and will close early the day before so you may want to stock up. Cheers.
