Both in picturesque setting with mountains as the backdrop and great views over the sea.
CD is a strip town - ie one road with all hotels, restaurants etc more or less along this. Few shops. 2 main ones general grocery type stores. Many (maybe 20) good to excellent restaurants. Beach in town now non existent (almost). Nearby King's water gardens North & South of Amlapura, Traditional village North of CD, Panang Bai nearby. Like Natia hotel and le 48 complex to stay plus Watergarden (more upmarket). Bigger hotels outside town.
Lovina a series of villages; main one Kalibukbuk. Quite a few shops, again around 20 restaurants but not up to CD quality. Beach good but black sand. Temples and hot springs to west, waterfalls South, large town Singaraja to east. Like Rambutan Hotel and a small place behind it ? Oasis ?
Both towns very laid back and relaxing. I like both for a change.
